The Golf Masters - Top tips for the weekend
2018-04-05 11:45:00So, Tiger is back in business? Or is he? Woods finished on +1 after the first round. With Ian Poulter on +2, who are you thinking is the best bet for the rest of the weekend? This is probably the most eagerly anticipated golf tournament of the year. We've got finest prices from outstanding bookmakers, just for you. Can anyone catch the early leader, Jordan Spieth?
Favourites for The Masters
So, it appears that Tiger Woods may well be regaining some of his old form in recent weeks. Has his return from injury and apparent resurgence come just a little too late for this year's Masters tournament? Well, Tiger finished on +1 after the Thursday's opening round. The odds for Tiger Woods to win the Masters are currently 40/1 with bet365. Rory McIlroy enjoyed an impressive first day, finishing on -3, tied for 4th position. Jordan Spieth got off to a flying start. Leading on -6, Spieth is now priced as the 2/1 favourite with bet365. Spieth is yet to get going in 2018 with a 3rd-place finish at the Houston Open his best of the season, so far. McIlroy has a victory under his belt from the Arnold Palmer Invitational just a few weeks back.
Tony Finau and Matt Kuchar are tied in 2nd place on -4. By now, you've all probably seen Finau's ankle injury from the Par 3 tournament day and his immediate self-remedy as he popped the dislocated joint back into position without a second thought! So, Finau has played through that injury and is just two shots behind Spieth. It will be interesting to see how Finau copes with that ankle injury as rounds 2, 3 and 4 progress and that may be why you can still get him at a great price of 33/1 at the moment.
With bet365, they are paying 8 places for The Masters at 1/5 of the odds. They also have an amazing range of markets to bet on so if you know your golf, bet365 is the place to be!
Just to recap - the favourites for The Masters after the first round bet365 are as follows:
- Jordan Spieth - 2/1
- Rory McIlroy - 11/2
- Phil Mickelson - 14/1
- Henrik Stenson - 16/1
- Matt Kuchar - 16/1
- Rickie Fowler - 20/1
Over at Unibet, they have made Jordan Spieth the outright favourite at 2/1 after that excellent opening round. McIlroy is now 11/2 with Kuchar, Mickelson, and Stenson all at 14/1. The price for Tiger Woods at Unibet is now 33/1 and Justin Rose is in ahead of Tiger Woods at 25/1 after his first round score of even par.
Unibet are paying on the first 6 places in The Masters at 1/4 of the odds so that's a great option if you fancy backing someone each way. Will you pick one of the usual suspects from the top ten favourites or have you got your very own secret tip for The Masters?!
Maybe some of you fancy Ian Poulter after his recent win on tour? Well, the odds for Ian Poulter to win The Masters are now 200/1 with Unibet. Poulter is on +2 after round one.
What about the current holder of the green jacket, Sergio Garcia? The Spanish golfer ended his long wait for a major with his victory at Augusta in 2017. However, Garcia absolutely collapsed at Augusta yesterday, coming in at +9 for the round. So, it's time for Sergio to say goodbye to that green jacket on Sunday.
Outsiders at a Better Price
If looking further down the field is your thing and you like taking a chance on the outsiders, then BetRegal is just the place for you. Matt Kuchar to lead at the end of Friday's round (round two) at 6/1 is a good option. Kuchar is just two shots back in the field.
888sport are also giving some great odds for the outsiders. After round one, you can still get Henrik Stenson at 14/1, Tommy Fleetwood 66/1 and Dustin Johnson is 28/1. Tiger Woods is 33/1 with 888sport and you can get him at 11/5 to finish in the top ten at The Masters! 888sport also have Charl Schwartzel at 150/1 to win The Masters while you can back him to finish in the top twenty at 9/4. Not bad after his first round ended with a score of even par. Good returns there!
Betfred are paying the first 10 places at The Masters at 1/5 of the odds. After round one, even with this great offer, you can still get Tiger Woods at 35/1 to win The Masters and Phil Mickelson is currently priced at 12/1. British golfer, Ian Poulter, scored +2 in the first round and is now priced at 200/1 with Betfred. That might be worth a punt as Poulter could play his way back into the top ten judging by his recent form. Another two that may be worth a punt or Tony Finau at 28/1 and Charley Hoffman at 40/1. With Betfred paying the first 10 places, it's certainly hard to resist backing The Masters!
